If you're in real estate, construction, or the built environment, this one's for you.
Europe is rearming, and it needs buildings to do it. The EU's ReArm Europe plan could mobilise up to โฌ800bn. Belgium has doubled its defence spending from 0.97% of GDP in 2014 to 2%, and committed to a roadmap towards NATO's 3.5%.
That money is already turning into real estate. A new โฌ500M Defence headquarters in Haren for up to 4,000 staff. Army bases reopening or expanding in Ursel, Koksijde, Diest, Geel, Ieper and more. FN investing around โฌ100M to expand ammunition production in Zutendaal and Herstal.
Barracks, depots, factories, logistics hubs, housing for personnel, secure data centres. Much of it dual use. Most of it needs to be built fast.
On 23 March, we're hosting "Dual Use & Defence Real Estate" in Brussels, at the heart of NATO and the EU. One evening. A curated room. Developers, investors, contractors, defence industry and public players, mapping one of the fastest-growing segments in European real estate.
