If you're in real estate, construction, or the built environment, this one's for you.
In Flanders, at least 100 businesses can't get connected to the electricity grid because there's no capacity left. One of them is running on diesel generators. Belgian data centres are heading past 260 MW of capacity, while companies queue for a connection. Elia and Fluvius are investing €4.8bn and €11bn in Flemish grids this decade just to keep up.
Meanwhile, buildings use about 40% of the EU's energy and half of its gas. And from 2028, the new EU carbon price on heating fuels (ETS2) will start landing on every gas and oil boiler.
Energy used to be a line in the operating budget. Now it decides whether a project gets built at all.
On 19 January, we're hosting "Energy–Real Estate Collision". One evening. A curated room. Developers, grid operators, energy players and investors, figuring out how to build, heat and power real estate when the grid says no.
📅 When: Tuesday 19 January | 18:00 – 21:00
📍 Where: [Venue name, full address], Brussels, Belgium

The session will explore what grid congestion, electrification and carbon pricing mean for real estate: securing power for new projects, on-site production and storage, energy communities, heat pumps at scale, and how energy is becoming a source of value, not just a cost.
Why people show up:
✔ Direct conversations: no noise, no fluff
✔ People open to partnerships, pilots, and new ideas
✔ Access to speakers: not just listening, but exchanging
The next good site won't be the one with the best location. It'll be the one with a power connection. Find out who's solving that.
