Luc Demortier graduated as a civil engineering graduate in construction from the Université Catholique de Louvain in 1993. After one year as an assistant in UCL’s Materials Mechanics Department and another year at European Engineering Services in Brussels, he joined Greisch in 1995 as part of the buildings division, becoming its co-head in 2002.
From 2006 onwards, he served as a director of four companies within the Greisch Group. In 2011, he became Managing Director of Brussels-based Bgroup-Greisch, and in 2015, Chairman of the Board of Directors—a position he held until 2017, when he became Managing Director of Bureau d’études Greisch.
He has a particular interest in exposed concrete load-bearing structures, advanced concrete prefabrication and their application in large-scale projects. After beginning his career at Greisch as part of the team responsible for reconstructing the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, he went on to lead numerous sports infrastructure projects, including the Standard de Liège Stadium, the renovation of the Country Hall in Liège and the redevelopment of the Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit.
He has also led engineering studies for a wide range of service buildings, including the new Agoria building in Brussels, the multifunctional hall and State Archives in Mons, the Liège Airport terminal, the new Namur courthouse, the fourth European School in Brussels, the House of Innovation in Belval, Luxembourg, and the Jardins de la Chasse administrative centre in Etterbeek.
Closely involved in strengthening Greisch’s position in the high-rise building sector, he has led an increasingly large team on projects including the Ghent Administrative Centre; the WTC towers, the Realex Conference Centre and the Silver Tower in Brussels; the Finance Tower in Liège; the Infinity – Porte de l’Europe project in Luxembourg; and the Grande Tour in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
In 2016, when Bureau Greisch introduced its new organisational structure, Luc Demortier became Director of the Buildings Division for the entire Greisch Group.
Luc Demortier also supervises student internships from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He serves on final-year project juries and is a collaborator at the University of Liège.
