If you're in real estate, construction, or the built environment, this one's for you.
75% of Europe's buildings perform poorly on energy. Only about 1% are renovated each year. At that pace, we'll be done sometime next century.
The rules won't wait. Under the revised EU buildings directive, the worst 16% of non-residential buildings must be renovated by 2030, and the worst 26% by 2033. In Belgium, a quarter of homes for sale in 2025 still had a poor EPC label, 32% in Brussels. In Flanders, buyers of E and F homes have 6 years to bring them up to D, and the government just confirmed it won't soften that obligation.
Retrofit is no longer a nice-to-have. It's a deadline, a cost, and the biggest opportunity in Belgian real estate this decade.
On 24 November in Brussels, we're hosting "The Retrofit Imperative". One evening. A curated room. Owners, investors, contractors and tech players working out how to renovate at scale, and who pays for it.
